Are their any retired mechanical, structural, electrical or system engineers that could go together and start a business in the Urbana area. They could put their skills to use as paid consultants to businesses and a support business bundling a CAD, blueprinting, drafting supply sales and services and a manufacturing measurement and inspection(calipers, micrometers.gages, magnetic particle , ultrasonic etc ) tools sales, repair and recertification services.,

I think that's a great idea. However, I don't think it has to limited to retired professionals only. There are many individuals out there with the necessary skills willing to join the right affiliation.

Something like a print shop may be able to grab a good portion of the Springfield market. I do architectural drawings and to my knowledge, the closest print shops of any significance are in Dayton.

I am a structural steel detailer and, I use CAD to produce my drawings
I use ARRIS Graphics Architectural software as well as CompuSTEEL steel detailing software for producing shop drawings for steel fabricators.

I also have a BluRay 454 blueprint machine for making blueline copies. I can produce copies up 48" wide. And, I have an HP430 24" wide monochrome plotter for CAD hardcopy output.

If any of you have a need for anything I can do, let me know.
